Can Anyone Seal the Ten Tails Inside Themselves? A Deep Dive into the Jinchūriki of Jūbi

The Ten Tails (Jūbi) is one of the most powerful entities in the Naruto and Boruto universes, representing an unparalleled level of chakra and destruction. Since its introduction, many fans have speculated whether anyone can seal the Ten Tails within themselves and become its Jinchūriki. While some characters have achieved this feat in the past, replicating it is far more complicated than it seems. Let's explore whether sealing the Ten Tails is possible for anyone and what conditions must be met to do so.

The Known Jinchūriki of the Ten Tails

So far, only two individuals have successfully become the Jinchūriki of the Ten Tails:

  1. Obito Uchiha - After acquiring the Rinnegan and using the Six Paths Ten-Tails Coffin Seal, he became the Jinchūriki of the beast. However, controlling such a massive force almost overwhelmed him.

  2. Madara Uchiha - Like Obito, Madara used the Rinnegan and the Six Paths' power to seal the Ten Tails within himself, gaining immense power.

Both individuals shared key factors that enabled them to become Jinchūriki: they possessed the Rinnegan, an advanced understanding of sealing jutsu, and strong enough bodies to handle the massive chakra.

The Six Paths Ten-Tails Coffin Seal

The Six Paths Ten-Tails Coffin Seal is the primary technique used to seal the Jūbi inside a host. This fūinjutsu (sealing technique) requires the Rinnegan, which limits the number of potential candidates significantly. The technique was created by Hagoromo Otsutsuki, also known as the Sage of Six Paths, and knowledge of it was passed down through the Uchiha clan via the stone tablet beneath the Naka Shrine.

This means that only someone who has:

  • Awakened the Rinnegan

  • Mastered high-level fūinjutsu

  • Has the physical and mental resilience to handle the Ten Tails' chakra

...could theoretically seal the beast inside themselves.

Who Could Potentially Become the Next Ten Tails Jinchūriki?

Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke, when he still possessed the Rinnegan, was one of the most viable candidates. He had already witnessed Obito using the technique, meaning he could have attempted it himself. However, the plot never allowed him to become the Ten Tails' Jinchūriki, and his Rinnegan was later destroyed by Boruto (possessed by Momoshiki).

Momoshiki, Urashiki, and Shibai Otsutsuki

While Otsutsuki clan members are powerful, they do not seem to use this sealing method. Their objective is to grow and consume chakra fruits from God Trees rather than sealing the Ten Tails inside themselves. The Otsutsuki will likely have no reason to possess such a sealing technique in the first place.

Nagato Uzumaki

Nagato had the Rinnegan but never demonstrated any knowledge of the Six Paths Ten-Tails Coffin Seal. Additionally, his body likely couldn't handle the enormous chakra of the Jūbi without suffering serious consequences.

Why Can't Just Anyone Seal the Ten Tails?

Several reasons make it nearly impossible for just any ninja to become the Ten Tails' Jinchūriki:

  1. Rinnegan Requirement - The sealing method demands the Rinnegan, a rare dōjutsu only a handful of individuals have ever possessed.

  2. Mental Fortitude - The sheer power of the Ten Tails can drive a host insane, as seen with Obito’s struggle to maintain control.

  3. Chakra Reserves - Even powerful ninja like Nagato would struggle to sustain the chakra levels required to keep the beast sealed.

  4. Plot & Story Development - The Naruto and Boruto series have not positioned any current characters to take on this role.

Was Sasuke the Best Candidate?

Given his abilities at the time, Sasuke was arguably the most suitable candidate after Madara and Obito. During the fight against Isshiki Otsutsuki, Sasuke was left alone in another dimension with the Ten Tails. If he had known how to perform the Six Paths Ten-Tails Coffin Seal, he could have sealed it inside himself, altering the course of Boruto entirely. However, the story dictated otherwise, and his Rinnegan was later destroyed, removing him as a viable option.

Could Boruto or Kawaki Become the Ten Tails Jinchūriki?

Currently, neither Boruto nor Kawaki has the Rinnegan, making them unlikely candidates. However, if Boruto were to somehow acquire a Rinnegan in the future, he could theoretically attempt the sealing. Given his connection to the Otsutsuki and his training under Sasuke, he might have the potential to control such power.

Conclusion: Is There a Future Jinchūriki for the Ten Tails?

At present, no character in Boruto seems poised to become the Jinchūriki of the Ten Tails. The only ones capable in the past were Obito and Madara, who had the necessary tools, knowledge, and lineage. Sasuke could have been a potential candidate if the plot had allowed it, but that possibility has been removed.

Unless a new character emerges with the Rinnegan and the ability to use the Six Paths Ten-Tails Coffin Seal, the Ten Tails may remain unsealed or continue being used to cultivate chakra fruits by the Otsutsuki.

For now, it appears that sealing the Jūbi within a Jinchūriki remains an incredibly rare and nearly impossible feat, reserved for only a select few in the Naruto universe. If a new Jinchūriki does emerge, it will undoubtedly shake the foundations of the story and redefine the power scale of the Boruto era.
